Venture Investing Principles
Our connection with the entrepreneur is critical to our decision to invest. We partner with passionate entrepreneurs who are fanatical about building great products and great, enduring companies. We gravitate to founders who clearly and convincingly articulate their visions for their businesses and who convey an ability and, indeed, passion for persevering through the challenges that confront every growing business. We look for leaders who set high standards for their businesses and we choose those who also demonstrate an exceptional ability to execute.
We favor businesses that we understand across a variety of industries. Given our backgrounds, we have an affinity for new ideas in the financial services sector, technology businesses, or businesses that combine both in the fintech space. We love companies with high design standards and top-quality engineering. And, as consumers ourselves, we feel an innate ability to evaluate consumer-facing offerings.
We have an affinity for businesses that hit close to home, either geographically or through an entrepreneur who has connectivity to companies, organizations, universities, or colleagues we know well. Alternatively, we are interested in businesses founded by people who have exceptional reputations and expertise in their fields. We typically favor businesses that are based in the US.
We make investments in businesses that have reached a certain scale. These operations have a viable offering in the market and generate annual revenue of $5-20 million.
